Context
This case study explores the redesign of the wishlist feature within Staycation, a mobile app for discovering and booking short, experience-driven stays. Product analysis showed that while users frequently saved stays, the wishlist remained underused as an engagement tool. It captured intent, but did little to support users beyond the initial browsing session. This project focuses on how the wishlist could better support users between inspiration and booking, while contributing to long-term retention.
Problem
The wishlist functioned mainly as passive storage.
Users could save stays, but lacked structure, context, or guidance to help them move toward a decision.
Saved items accumulated over time, making it harder to prioritize or revisit them meaningfully. As a result, the wishlist fell short of its potential as a re-engagement and retention lever.
Challenge
How might we turn the wishlist into a feature that helps users clarify intent and confidently move toward booking?
Solution
The redesign repositioned the wishlist as an active decision-support tool.
The solution focused on:
Improving clarity and structure within saved content
Making user intent more visible and actionable over time
Strengthening the link between inspiration, consideration, and booking
Lightweight, contextual prompts were also introduced to help users understand the value of the wishlist at key moments, such as saving a stay or returning to the app.
